Novelty was ran over by technology. The past is important to learning from man’s historic mistakes. If that’s true, why do the Afrocentrism and powerful words of Tupac Shakur continue to be played 20 years after he died? What sign have people held up since his passing…”Change”…or “No justice. No peace.?” The future of technology is important because we need humans to inhabit other planets for the greater good of humanity. People have migrated from the banks to information centers equivalent of a dreaming 49er holding their gold. Living for the present herolds old English writings equivalent to an artist using the font in a prison. Some may view the present as secluded and utter such words are taboo. Could the novelty of time have been created by man? A pensive state that’s raw and uncouth has overtaken mankind’s search for “information.” “I gotta be a sponge and get more!” Sounds like a drug addict, doesn’t it?
The term novelty means the quality of being new, original, or unusual. In a sentence, it can be used as, “the novelty of being a married woman wore off.” In simple terms, a woman may not want to get married as she isn’t valued as priceless. In a previous era, women were viewed as gems and even a divorce was socially unacceptable. Present day shows that even a president of a country is allowed to disrespect women through different avenues. Will the next generation follow suit?
A maze of information travels in our lives, daily, as we sometimes have to adjust our speed from 5th gear down to 1st. Putting the brain in “neutral” is something unheard of. Go look. Automakers are creating autopilot vehicles. Self-driving vehicles may eradicate people looking out their windows and onto their glazing phones. From a physical standpoint, carmakers have adjusted their way of thinking. People don’t want to drive a manual “stick” vehicle. If anything, automatic cars are what’s being sold and automatic minds are what advertisers are constantly bombing. Again, there is no neutral mode. There is no rest.
The idiom “stop and smell the roses” is something the next generation may view as obsolete. It may become a term that may ultimately crush an economy as the rich may seek to become richer and the poor may continue to sacrifice their time for that extra dollar. Stop and smell the roses. This goes out to both classes, as there doesn’t even seem to be a middle class any longer. It’s been done. Despite the world economy being black and white, reverting to a gray area is the equivalent of going into neutral gear. Rest the mind. Better yet – remind yourself that the finite deeper appreciation is what matters in life. I look back at ten years of work. Over 100 hours of work bi-weekly and what did I have to show for it? That’s my personal business; however, there’s been moments in my life that I missed. Moments which I’d pay hundreds and thousands of dollars just enjoy that extra minute of laughter with friends lost due to cancer. I missed out on those minutes. I wasn’t present. I wasn’t present of the moment.
To be present is the equivalent of savoring someone opening up a gift you neatly wrapped. Forget about the Hallmark card! Your eyes devour the happiness and excitement of the other person. Crinkled wrapping drops to the floor. They smile. That is your gift. That is your novelty.
