There are many overlooked components that go into the creation of anything notable, most of which often times go unnoticed to the average eye, or in this case, the average ear. Teddy Walton however is nothing average. With tracks like Goldlink’s Grammy-nominated “Crew” under his belt, the 26-year old Memphis native has already achieved what many producers could only dream of.
Genius, a community-driven platform dedicated to discussing and breaking down music, has an on-going video series named Deconstructed, which reminds us a lot of a podcast we shared last year that dissected the origins of popular tunes (see here). The chosen track for this episode is “LOVE.”, one of the standout hits from Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN, a master feat in itself. “LOVE.” was obviously produced by Teddy, and in the video above, he goes in-depth, breaking down what inspires him as a musician, his workflow and how “LOVE.”, featuring crooner Zacari, came to be.
